About

Izzy Carnes, AFC®, MQFP®
Financial Counselor, Operations Consultant
Hello! I’m Izzy, a proud military spouse and a first-generation immigrant from Okinawa, Japan.

My personal finance journey began when I volunteered as a budget counselor at a military nonprofit organization. That experience sparked a deep passion for helping people clarify their financial goals and supporting them as they work toward meaningful milestones. I am an Accredited Financial Counselor® (AFC®) and a Military Qualified Financial Planner® (MQFP®), with over 20 years of experience providing budget counseling to individuals and families.

I’ve spent many years volunteering with nonprofit organizations that provide financial counseling services, working closely with clients to help them understand their finances and build budgeting strategies that fit their unique needs and goals. My work has included supporting military service members and their families, veterans, widows, and young adults, as well as individuals from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and gender identities. Through these experiences, I’ve learned the importance of meeting people where they are and offering practical, respectful guidance that reflects each person’s situation and values.

In 2020, I joined a financial planning firm as a paraplanner while pursuing my CFP® credential. That’s when I unexpectedly discovered my love for Operations. I’ve always valued efficiency, productivity, and a detail-oriented approach, and the Operations role allowed me to truly thrive. I found satisfaction in organizing processes, improving workflows, and tackling the behind-the-scenes tasks that often get pushed aside. What others saw as tedious, I found energizing.
Today, I bring that same passion and skill set to supporting financial advisors, planners, and small business owners who need help with Operations projects and business support projects. My experience working with diverse teams and personalities has taught me how to adapt my support to different work styles and needs. One of my most rewarding areas of work is helping those who struggle with procrastination or distraction by creating structure, prioritizing tasks, and implementing tools and systems that keep them focused and accountable.
If you’re feeling frustrated or overwhelmed, it may be a sign that your focus is being pulled in too many directions. I believe that when you have peace of mind, you can do your best work, and I’d love to help make that happen.
